Challenge:
Nevada has a strong need to conserve water. In 2003, the city of Henderson in conjunction with the Southern Nevada Water Authority decided to deliver a strong message to residents, encouraging and providing the tools for better water practices.
Solution:
Vanguard Media Group developed a comprehensive water reduction initiative, beginning with research on the local understanding of Navada’s water situation. We then created Henderson Water Watchers, a brand, team and compact message targeting the specific Henderson audience. Through a website, community mailings and public relations, the Henderson Water Watchers educated residents about nature of the southern Nevada climate, and provided ways for residents to get involved by making smart personal and family decisions. The initiative helped help place water at the forefront of local initiatives and activities, and built a foundation upon which real water use change can be made. Today, Henderson Water Watchers remain a strong reminder of the importance of water decisions for the community.
